Intel Stock Gains Amid IP Controversy Clarification
Intel (INTC) shares ROSE nearly 3.5% in Friday trading after Lip-Bu Tan, addressing rumors head-on, dismissed speculation about a former Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) executive bringing proprietary information to the chipmaker. "It's rumor and speculation. There's nothing to it. We respect IP," Tan told Bloomberg News, reinforcing Intel's commitment to intellectual property protections.
The controversy emerged amid reports that Wei-Jen Lo, retired from TSMC since July, had joined Intel with knowledge of TSMC's manufacturing processes. An ongoing investigation seeks to determine potential national security implications, though Tan's unequivocal denial appears to have reassured investors.
